Cummins QSB5.9

The Cummins QSB5.9 engine was repaired in our workshop.

The repaired engine was rebuilt based on new repair kits containing pistons, rings and pins with safeguards. In addition, from the basic elements, main bearings, connecting rod bearings and bushings were installed.

Repair process

Reconditioned injectors and a high-pressure pump were installed in the fuel system. The engine cooling system received a new water pump and a new thermostat. The worn oil pump was also replaced with a new one. In the engine block, the camshaft bearings were replaced, and the camshaft itself was reconditioned. It was necessary to replace the timing gears due to significant wear and corrosion of the system.

In addition, the following were reconditioned: the crankshaft, connecting rods, cylinder head, turbocharger, alternator and starter.

The entire engine was assembled on a new set of seals, gaskets and filters.

After the repair, the engine was checked and preliminarily run-in on the engine dynamometer in our workshop.
