Hydraulics leave no room for approximation. Clearances in the piston group are measured in micrometres, and whether a pump goes back to work for years depends on a thorough inspection of every part and measurement after assembly. That is why every overhaul ends with a load test. Simply confirming that the pump “turns and delivers oil” is not enough for us.

Typical symptoms of a failing hydraulic pump or motor
Pumps rarely fail suddenly. Usually, for several hundred operating hours, they give warning signs that the operator mistakes for the machine having “a bad day”:
- Loss of pressure and force: the bucket can no longer break out material, the boom drops under load.
- Slow machine movements: increasing internal leakage reduces the flow reaching the actuators.
- Loss of power once the oil warms up: everything works in the morning, but after an hour the machine gets weaker. Warm oil has lower viscosity, and worn sliding surfaces let more and more of it bypass.
- Noise and vibration: whining or rattling points to cavitation, worn bearings or damaged piston slippers.
- Leaks: most often from the shaft seal, frequently caused by excessive case pressure due to high case drain leakage.
- Oil overheating and error messages: temperature alarms, pump regulator faults or pressure sensor errors.
Practical tip: if you find metal particles on the magnetic plugs or in the filter elements, stop the machine. Continued operation will spread metal throughout the entire system. After a pump failure, the system must be flushed, the filters replaced and the oil cooler checked – otherwise the rebuilt unit will quickly share the fate of the old one. What we repair
Axial piston pumps and gear pumps
Piston pump repair is the core of our work. We rebuild variable displacement axial piston pumps operating in open circuits, i.e. in the working hydraulics of excavators. We also repair closed-circuit pumps that drive the travel of wheel loaders, rollers and special machines. In addition, we handle auxiliary gear pumps for pilot control, braking systems and fan drives.
Travel and swing motors
Our hydraulic motor repair covers travel motors, e.g. Rexroth A6VM and Linde, as well as swing motors, e.g. Kawasaki M2X and M5X. On swing motors we also check the relief and anti-cavitation valves and the parking brake. These components are often the cause of jerky or “drifting” upper structure movement. An example of such diagnostics: swing and rotator failure on a Liebherr LH35.
Hydraulic modules and control valves
Our hydraulic module service covers valve blocks, pump regulators (power, pressure, Load Sensing) and directional control valves. We inspect spools and seats, replace seals and set the valves according to the manufacturer’s specifications.
Scope of service
- Diagnostics and testing: measurements on the machine or on the test bench, before disassembly and after repair.
- Rebuild: inspection and replacement of the rotating group (cylinder block, pistons with slippers, retainer plate), bearings and seals, lapping of the valve plate and cylinder block face.
- Calibration: setting the regulator, valves and pump controls.
- Replacements and upgrades: selecting an equivalent unit when the original component is unavailable or not cost-effective.
- Report: description of the damage found and the test results.
Not every worn part needs replacing. A valve plate and cylinder block face with shallow scoring can be restored by lapping on a precision lapping machine. Pistons with play at the ball joint, cracked slippers or a grooved shaft, on the other hand, must be replaced.
Hydraulic test bench and test report
Every rebuilt unit undergoes detailed testing on our diagnostic test bench. We drive the pump under load and measure pressure, flow, internal case drain leakage and temperature. This allows us to verify that the flow-versus-pressure curve matches the catalogue data and that the power regulator responds correctly.
The customer receives clear charts and test results confirming the quality of the repair. They also serve as a reference point for future inspections: it is easy to compare how leakage develops over the service life.
How the repair works – step by step
- Contact: give us the machine model, the number from the pump or motor nameplate and a description of the symptoms.
- Delivery or on-site removal: you can bring or ship the unit to us. We can also remove it on the job site.
- Diagnostics and quotation: after disassembly and inspection of the parts, we send you a quotation for approval.
- Repair and testing: rebuild, assembly, test bench run and test report.
During installation, remember to fill the pump housing with oil and bleed the system before the first start-up. Running “dry” can destroy the bearings within seconds. Sometimes a pump repair reveals a root cause located elsewhere, as in our Sennebogen 730E service.

Rebuild and repair of dump truck pumps
Rebuilding pumps for Volvo, CAT, Komatsu and Terex articulated dump trucks mainly involves steering, tipping, brake and fan drive pumps. In dump trucks the oil often runs at high temperatures, so a well-functioning cooler and clean filters are particularly important. Ask us about available rebuilt dump truck pumps as well.

How much does a hydraulic pump repair cost?
The cost depends on the type and size of the pump and on the extent of the damage: whether new seals and lapping are enough, or whether a new rotating group or regulator is required. We give a binding price after diagnostics, in a quotation for your approval. A rebuild is usually considerably cheaper than a new pump, which can be very expensive.
For removal and installation on the machine, the labour rate is PLN 230 net per mechanic (PLN 190 net when installing parts purchased from WIBAKO), plus travel at PLN 3 net per km, charged both ways.

After installation at the test station, the pump is subjected to loads simulating operation in a construction machine. We measure key parameters such as: pressure, flow, torque and oil temperature. We also check changes in efficiency with respect to pressure and the operation of the pump over a wide range of working temperatures. The full test lasts from 4 to 8 hours, depending on the type of pump.

How can I tell if a hydraulic pump is worn?
The most common signs are loss of force and slower movements, especially once the oil has warmed up, increased noise and oil overheating. A reliable assessment comes from measuring pressure, flow and case drain leakage, and after removal, from a test bench run.
Is repairing a hydraulic pump worth it compared to buying a new one?
In most cases, yes, because the housing, regulator and many components can be retained, and only worn parts are replaced or lapped. The customer decides after diagnostics and receiving the quotation.
Does the hydraulic system need flushing after a pump failure?
Yes, if there are metal particles in the filters or on the magnetic plugs. Without flushing the system and replacing the filters, contamination can quickly damage the rebuilt or new pump.
