A major repair of the Liebherr D916 engine from the Liebherr L551 wheel loader was carried out in our workshop
The engine overhaul included, among other things, the replacement of main bearings, connecting rod bearings and bushings, as well as cylinder liners and pistons along with pins and rings.
Due to heavy wear, the camshaft, valve cups and pushers required replacement. In the fuel system, reconditioned injectors and a fuel pump were installed. In the lubrication system, the worn oil pump and piston nozzles were replaced. The cooling system gained a reconditioned coolant pump and new thermostats.
In addition, the following were reconditioned: the crankshaft, connecting rods, cylinder heads, turbocharger and starter.
Finally, the engine was assembled with a new set of seals, gaskets and filters.
After the repair, the engine was tested and preliminarily run-in on the engine dynamometer in our workshop.
