Hydraulic Engine Service
A breakdown of a construction machine is a nightmare that keeps every owner and operator awake at night. However, such situations do occur and in case of their occurrence, it is worth keeping a cool head and common sense.
Wibako construction machinery service carries out repairs of construction machinery components. We repair combustion engines and hydraulic power components, such as pumps and hydraulic engines.
Power hydraulics - hydraulic engines
We write about power hydraulics itself elsewhere. This time we want to draw attention to hydraulic engines and how we deal with the repair or regeneration of these devices.
Our workshop sees various types of hydraulic engines with more or less complicated faults. So how do we deal with individual problems? We will present this on the following examples of specific hydraulic engine repairs.
Caterpillar Hydraulic Engine
We carried out a repair of a Caterpillar hydraulic engine. The verification of the device showed significant wear of individual components and many of them were designated for replacement.
Replaced:
- separator
- piston seals
- oil seal
- small bearing
The rest was sent for grinding. A little more work had to be devoted to the piston base body, whose surface was deformed and had to be corrected.
After the repair, the engine underwent a painting process, and finally it was tested and after finished tests confirming the effectiveness of the repair, it was returned for further use.
Liebherr FMF045
The next repair presented in the text is a hydraulic engine of the Liebherr brand. This time the rotational system of the unit failed. To be more precise, the basic elements ensuring the correct operation of the entire device - the cylinder and pistons were suitable for replacement.
The hydraulic engine converts the energy of the hydraulic fluid into mechanical energy through the movement of pistons in the cylinder, and the rotational group is of key importance here. Our goal is always to restore the engine to the correct working parameters and that's why we carefully check the degree of wear of each element.
After replacing or regenerating parts, the engine underwent a standard process:
- washing, cleaning
- grinding
- running-in
- assembly
- painting
In the end, the engine was checked at the diagnostic station. Power hydraulics is a very precise field, where everything has to work like clockwork, and the reaction time in the face of problems that have arisen is crucial, as ignoring the first ominous symptoms can lead to the machine being immobilized for longer.
Linde BMR105
Finally, a repair that all mechanics love, due to the quick and trouble-free diagnosis. Sometimes it happens that a minor fault is responsible for all the seemingly serious ailments of the system.
The Linde hydraulic engine, which came to our workshop, was thoroughly checked for potential failures and eventually it turned out that only the piston seal was designated for replacement. The rest was washed, cleaned, ground and assembled.
A test was carried out on the dynamometer to confirm the effectiveness of the repair.
Hydraulic system - a few tips
Summarizing our experience in repairing elements of the power hydraulic system, we wanted to share a few useful tips that significantly reduce the risk of a serious failure of this system.
The most important things are:
- Regular maintenance
- Caring for the cleanliness of hydraulic oil
- Replacing filters
- Monitoring the operating temperature of the hydraulic engine
- Avoiding overload
- Using the machine according to its purpose
- Proper hydraulic oil pressure
- Proper lubrication of moving elements
- Training machine operators
