Our WIBAKO service received a Dynapac F141C asphalt paver equipped with a Deutz TCD2013 L06 engine. This machine is often used in large road investments where precision, stability, and reliability are required. In this case, the reason for sending the machine to our service was overheating and seizure of the engine, which made further operation impossible.

The preliminary diagnostics conducted by our technicians in the vicinity of Kraków (Małopolskie Voivodeship) revealed problems with the cooling system and significant resistance when manually rotating the crankshaft. To accurately verify the condition of the power unit, the engine was removed from the machine and transported to the WIBAKO headquarters in Kojszówka, where a full verification and major overhaul were performed.

Engine disassembly

The disassembly of the Deutz TCD2013 L06 engine from the Dynapac F141C asphalt paver was carried out by our mobile service team. The work took place at the client's site using a crane provided by the investor. Components such as the equipment, cooling system, intake and exhaust pipes, and hydraulic connections were removed. Special attention was paid to securing the elements of the cooling system and air intake to avoid contamination. After preparing the engine, it was safely lowered from the machine frame and transported to our workshop in Kojszówka.

Verification of components

In the workshop, the verification process began. After disassembling the unit, seizure of the crankshaft and main bearings was found, which was a consequence of engine overheating. Detailed measurements of the crankshaft, pistons, sleeves, and connecting rods were taken. The cylinder head was subjected to a leak test in a water bath, and the injection pump and injectors were tested on a test bench. The turbocharger showed excessive axial play, so a decision was made to regenerate it at a specialized partner facility.

Regeneration and repair

Crankshaft-piston system

The crankshaft was ground, and the bearings were replaced with new ones that met repair dimensions. New pistons, rings, and cylinder sleeves were used, restoring nominal compression and sealing parameters.

Engine head

The head was planed, guides and valves were replaced, and a full regeneration of the valve seats was performed. After assembly, a leak test was conducted with compressed air in a heated water bath – the result was positive.

Fuel system and equipment

The injection pump and injectors were adjusted on the test bench. The supply pump was replaced, the turbocharger was regenerated, and the alternator was serviced. All equipment was assembled with new seals, hoses, and mounting elements.

Engine installation

After the overhaul, the Deutz TCD2013 L06 engine was thoroughly assembled, started on the test stand, and prepared for installation. Then our mobile service performed the installation in the Dynapac F141C paver at the client's site near Kraków. The work included connecting fuel, cooling, and electrical systems, installing new air piping, and checking the tightness of connections. After installation, initial tests were conducted with the machine operator – correct oil pressure, operating temperature, and load response were checked. After successful commissioning, an acceptance protocol for the installation was signed.

Engine test on the dynamometer

WIBAKO, as one of the few companies in Poland, has a modern engine dynamometer, allowing for full testing of units before their installation in machines. The Deutz TCD2013 L06 engine worked on the dynamometer for over 16 hours after the overhaul. Initially, it was tested under light load (20-30% of nominal power) to allow the components to break in. Then several test cycles were performed under full load. Parameters such as power, torque, exhaust temperature, oil pressure, and fuel consumption were recorded. The obtained results confirmed factory values, allowing for the certification of the engine as fully operational. As a result, the client received an engine ready for immediate installation and operation, with a guarantee of reliability.

Engine maintenance after overhaul

After each overhaul, we recommend the first filter change and inspection after 50 operating hours. Our mechanics check the connections of the systems, the condition of the hoses, and the tightness of the systems. Subsequent service inspections should be carried out every 250 operating hours, but no less than once every 3 months.
