Repair of the Cummins QSB6.7 Engine (Stage V, 222 kW) in the Keestrack R3 Mobile Impact Crusher (Destroyer 1011)
Our company specializes in the service of construction machinery, as well as the regeneration of diesel engines. In this article, we present the details of the repair of the Cummins QSB6.7 engine (Stage V, 222 kW) in the Keestrack R3 mobile impact crusher (Destroyer 1011), one of the most commonly used machines in the construction and recycling industry.
The Keestrack R3 mobile crusher is a high-performance machine designed for crushing materials such as concrete, stone, and asphalt. Equipped with a Cummins QSB6.7 engine, it provides solid power and reliability in challenging working conditions. However, after prolonged use, the need for engine repair became inevitable. In our service, we carry out a comprehensive inspection, diagnostics, and regeneration of this engine to restore the machine's full operational efficiency.
Stages of Service Work
Engine Disassembly
The process began with the disassembly of the engine from the machine. With the help of a crane provided by the client, the engine was carefully removed from the working chamber. We secured all components of the cooling system, air intake, and accessories to prevent damage during the disassembly process. Each stage was thoroughly documented.
Engine Verification in the Workshop
After transporting the engine to our workshop, we began a detailed verification of its condition. The preliminary diagnosis indicated wear of the cylinders and pistons, resulting in a drop in compression. We conducted appropriate tests, such as measuring compression pressure and testing cylinder tightness. Further inspection also revealed the need to replace the crankshaft and some components of the fuel system.
Repair Process
As part of the engine regeneration, we carried out a detailed repair of the following systems:
- Piston-Crankshaft System: Replacement of worn pistons, rings, and bearings. Measurements of the crankshaft, connecting rods, and precise replacement of bearings were conducted.
- Engine Cylinder Head: The regeneration of the cylinder head included the replacement of valve guides and seals. The head was also checked for cracks and subjected to a tightness test.
- Fuel System: We conducted a comprehensive inspection of the injection pump and injectors. After regeneration, the fuel system returned to full efficiency.
- Accessories: Replacement of the turbocharger, starter, and alternator. We checked all electro-mechanical connections.
Engine Dyno Testing
After completing the repair process, the engine underwent tests on our engine dynamometer. This is one of the most important stages of our work, as it allows for full loading of the engine under controlled conditions. Thanks to our dynamometer, we can accurately check the engine's performance parameters, such as power, torque, and fuel consumption. The dynamometer tests lasted at least 16 hours, and after the tests, the engine underwent additional loading to ensure it operates flawlessly.
Engine Installation in the Machine
After a successful test on the dynamometer, the engine was reinstalled in the Keestrack R3 mobile crusher. The installation went smoothly, and the mechanics thoroughly checked all connections and seals, paying special attention to the air and lubrication systems. We also conducted tests with the machine operator to ensure that all engine functions were working correctly. After passing these tests, the machine was handed over to the user.
Summary
Our company completed the full regeneration of the Cummins QSB6.7 engine in the Keestrack R3 mobile crusher, restoring the machine's full operational efficiency. Thanks to our specialists, the machine has gained a new quality of work, and operators can enjoy a reliable engine for many more hours of operation. The advantage of the completed repair is also the extension of the engine's lifespan, giving the client confidence that they will not have to worry about sudden failures in the near future.
After the repair, the engine is covered by a warranty, and our service conducts an inspection after 50 operating hours from the machine's start-up. If necessary, we also offer further service support to ensure the continuity of the machine's operation.
