Disassembly and Preparation for Overhaul
Our construction machinery service performed the disassembly of the unit at the client's location near Katowice (Silesian Voivodeship). The Cummins QSB4.5 engine was secured and transported to our base, where we began the full overhaul process. During the disassembly, a protocol was prepared in which our technicians indicated the worn parts that required replacement and regeneration.
Scope of Work Performed
During the engine repair, we carried out comprehensive work on the key components of the unit:
Crankshaft – it was seized, so it was replaced with a new one.
Engine block – underwent full regeneration.
Camshaft – was regenerated and prepared for further operation.
Connecting rods – 4 pieces were regenerated.
Pistons – replaced with new ones, along with a new set of piston rings.
Cylinder head – after regeneration, with full restoration of the sealing and functionality of the valves.
Injection pump – checked and regenerated, ensuring precise fuel dosing.
Oil pump and water pump – replaced with new ones to ensure proper lubrication and cooling.
Each component was prepared so that the engine could operate reliably in demanding conditions after the overhaul.
Regeneration of the Fuel System and Accessories
According to our standard, in addition to the mechanical overhaul, we also performed regeneration of the fuel system and accessory components such as the turbocharger, alternator, and starter. As a result, the entire unit was restored to full functionality, significantly extending its lifespan.
After assembly, the Cummins QSB 4.5 engine was subjected to tests on the dynamometer. The achieved parameters confirmed the effectiveness of the overhaul:
Oil pressure: min. 2.1 bar at 880 rpm and 87°C oil
Minimum rpm: 870 rpm
Maximum rpm: 2050 rpm
Maximum power: 91 HP @ 1900 rpm, with a momentary peak of 113 HP @ 1550 rpm
Maximum torque: 596 Nm @ 1200 rpm
Readiness for Operation
Thanks to the completed overhaul, replacement and regeneration of key components, the engine has been restored to full functionality. The regenerated fuel system, new components, and professional assembly ensure that the unit will be able to operate for a long time without issues in the construction machinery.
