Key parameters, such as the Engine Serial Number (ESN), performance code (factory specification), or year of manufacture, are permanently stamped on the engine block or located on metal information plates. Providing these precise markings during purchase prevents costly mistakes, reduces machinery downtime, and guarantees a perfect fit for seals, pistons, or fuel injection system components. Before writing down the data, it is worth thoroughly cleaning the engine body, as key codes are often hidden under a layer of dirt and dried grease.

Where to find the engine serial number on construction machinery?

The engine serial number is a unique code that unambiguously identifies the so-called factory build list. Below you will find specific and field-tested locations of nameplates and numbers stamped on the block for the 6 most popular manufacturers.
