A major overhaul of the Caterpillar 3116 engine installed in the Caterpillar 325 crawler excavator was carried out in our company.
The engine overhaul included, among other things, oversizing the sleeves in the block, replacing crankshaft bearings, pistons along with rings, replacing injectors, clutch, engine mounts, thermostat and replacing the complete engine seal set.
In addition, the following were regenerated: crankshaft (grinding), connecting rods, engine block, turbocharger and water pump.
After the repair, the engine was checked and preliminarily run-in on the engine dynamometer in our workshop.
