Typical symptoms of hydraulic pump failure
Slow machine movements
Drop in system speed. Working elements move slowly, machine response to controls is delayed.
Loss of power
When oil temperature rises the machine loses power. Lifting loads becomes harder, the hydraulic system weakens.
Noise
Whining, squealing, grinding. Noise increases with load and indicates wear of components or cavitation.
Vibrations
Pump and line vibrations, felt in the cab as pulsations or jerks. May indicate worn bearings, uneven oil flow or cavitation.
Characteristics of Liebherr DPVO Pumps
Liebherr DPVO hydraulic pumps are axial piston variable displacement pumps designed for open circuits. They feature high efficiency, compact design and various control options, enabling optimal adaptation to the needs of construction, mining and industrial machinery. The nominal pressure is 380 bar, maximum 400 bar.
DPVO Pump Subtypes
- DPVO 108 – displacement 107.7 cm³, max. speed 2400 rpm, max. flow 258 l/min.
- DPVO 165 – displacement 167.8 cm³, max. speed 2100 rpm, max. flow 352 l/min.
- DPVO 215 – displacement 216.6 cm³, max. speed 2000 rpm, max. flow 433 l/min.
- DPVO 215i – version with impeller, displacement 216.6 cm³, max. speed 2500 rpm, max. flow 542 l/min.
Main Design Features
- Electric and hydraulic adjustment (positive or negative characteristic curve).
- Controls: proportional, pressure cutoff, Load Sensing, hyperbolic power regulation.
- Optional gear pump for control circuit oil.
- Through-drive available for pumps of the same size.
- Mounting flanges: SAE, DIN/ISO, custom versions.
- Rotation direction: right or left, depending on configuration.
- Compact size and low noise thanks to modern housing design.
Liebherr DPVO pumps are widely used in excavators, loaders, mining machines and heavy industrial equipment. Thanks to modular design and a broad selection of regulators, they can be tailored to OEM requirements.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
-
#1.Hydraulic pump repair - where to start?
To start the hydraulic pump repair process, please contact our repair coordinator, Sebastian. You can call +48 33 870 42 05 or use the contact form on our website.
-
#2.How to deliver a pump for repair?
You have several options:
- Deliver it personally to our workshop.
- Send it by courier.
- After agreeing on the details, we can arrange courier transport.
If you are unable to disassemble the pump, our mobile service can come to you and perform this service. -
#3.What does the repair process look like?
- Dismantling and verification: after delivering the pump to the workshop, we dismantle it into parts and thoroughly verify any damages.
- Estimate and repair time: we prepare a detailed cost estimate and determine the expected completion time.
- Repair implementation: after your acceptance of the terms, we proceed with the repair.
- Testing and painting: after the repair is completed, we test the pump at the testing station.
- A positive test result means that the pump is ready and gets painted. -
#4.What does the offer include?
Our offer may include:
- An estimate for repairs using original parts (if available).
- An estimate for repairs using replacement parts.
- A proposal to purchase the same pump after repair from our warehouse (an alternative to repairing your pump).
- An offer to purchase a new device, if the particular model is in our warehouse. -
#5.How long does the repair of a hydraulic pump take?
Verification begins immediately after the pump is delivered.
You will receive an estimate for typical repairs within just a few hours.
The repair itself usually takes 3-5 business days. -
#6.How do we test hydraulic pumps?
After installation at the test station, the pump is subjected to loads simulating operation in a construction machine. We measure key parameters such as: pressure, flow, torque and oil temperature. We also check changes in efficiency with respect to pressure and the operation of the pump over a wide range of working temperatures. The full test lasts from 4 to 8 hours, depending on the type of pump.
-
#7.What is the warranty after repair?
We perform repairs, using original parts or proven substitutes. After repair, each pump is tested, and the results are documented in the form of a readable chart. Therefore, you receive a 6-month warranty for each repair. If you have any questions about installation or operation, you can use our free phone support.
-
#8.Can I cancel the repair?
Yes, you can cancel the repair after receiving the estimate without incurring any costs.
-
#9.How much does hydraulic pump regeneration cost?
The price depends on the type of pump and the extent of damage. If you provide us with the type of hydraulic pump, we can give you an approximate price range, based on our previous projects.
