Symptoms of a clogged DPF filter in the Terex RT 90 crane
Decrease in hydraulic performance
The operator noticed a slower response of the hydraulic system and a significant drop in power while lifting loads.
DPF error messages
Warnings related to the exhaust cleaning system and high pressure in the exhaust system appeared on the control panel.
Increased fuel consumption
A clogged DPF filter caused inefficient operation of the engine and higher fuel consumption during crane operation.
Switching to emergency mode
The controller limited the machine's performance to protect the engine and exhaust system from damage.
DPF filter cleaning in the Terex RT 90 rough terrain crane
The Terex RT 90 rough terrain crane arrived at WIBAKO service with a clogged DPF filter and limited power during operation on the construction site. The machine was mainly used for assembly and loading work, where the engine operated under varying loads.
During diagnostics, our mechanics confirmed high back pressure in the exhaust system and significant contamination of the particulate filter. Further operation of the crane with a clogged DPF filter could have led to turbocharger damage, increased fuel consumption, and frequent switching of the machine to emergency mode.
The Terex RT 90 is a rough terrain crane designed for operation in difficult terrain conditions and on demanding construction sites. Such machines often operate at low RPMs and in interrupted cycles, which promotes the accumulation of soot and ash in the DPF filter.
After disassembling the DPF filter, we conducted a detailed inspection of its technical condition. We then performed professional cleaning and regeneration, removing accumulated soot and deposits from the inside of the filter. This made it possible to restore proper exhaust flow and engine operating parameters.
After completing the regeneration, the filter was reinstalled in the crane, and the entire system underwent control tests. Operating parameters returned to normal, and the machine regained full functionality and efficiency during field work.
At WIBAKO, we perform cleaning and regeneration of DPF filters used in rough terrain cranes, excavators, loaders, and other construction machines of brands such as Terex, Liebherr, Caterpillar, Komatsu, Volvo, JCB, and Doosan. We also offer comprehensive diagnostics of exhaust systems and engine service for construction machines.
